On 15 and 16 October, the partners of the Youth Green Compass project met in Rome for the final Transnational Partner Meeting. Nine representatives from Austria, France, Spain, Italy and Lithuania, including Cultura Creativa, spent two days reviewing the results achieved, addressing the tasks still pending and discussing how to ensure the project’s continuity once it officially comes to an end in late November.
Two years after the project began, the meeting was a key moment to look back at everything the partnership has built together and, above all, to look ahead.
Day One: Reviewing Progress
The first day began with a review of the project’s work packages, going through the tasks and deliverables already completed and identifying those still pending before the end of the project. This overview helped partners get a clear picture of the current state of the project and agree on the final steps.
For lunch, the group visited a vegan restaurant that is also one of the project’s Green Points in Rome. It was a fitting choice for a sustainability project and a practical reminder that Green Points can be found not only in Alicante but also in other partner cities.
In the afternoon, the partners discussed the progress made on the project’s key performance indicators related to visibility and dissemination, evaluating the reach of the project and its results in each partner country.
An Evening of Networking
Later that day, the meeting opened its doors to the local community with a public networking event. Around 35 people took part, including the project partners and representatives, staff members and volunteers from other associations based in Rome and the surrounding region.
The evening began with a round of introductions, in which participants presented themselves and the work of their organisations. This was followed by an activity on what it takes to develop a project and the vision each participant had for their own initiatives. The aim was to spark conversations and encourage participants to identify what they needed to move their ideas forward, as well as what they could offer others. The exchange continued over an Italian aperitivo, which also served as dinner, giving everyone the chance to keep talking, share experiences and build new connections.
Day Two: Future Horizons
The second day focused on the administrative and financial aspects of the project, making sure everything is in order for its final stage. Later on, the partners held a session on the project’s future horizons, dedicated to its sustainability and the exploitation of its results. The goal was to ensure that Youth Green Compass does not end with its two-year lifetime, but continues to have an impact beyond it. Partners discussed how to keep using and promoting what has been created and learned throughout the project, from its tools and resources to the experience gained along the way. Each partner shared what they could do to give the project continuity and what they would need to make it possible.
Looking Back: Two Years of Results
The meeting in Rome was also an opportunity to look back on how much has been achieved since the project began. Over these two years, Youth Green Compass has produced concrete results in all partner countries.
Through the World Environmental Week, each partner organised a series of local activities, involving more than 50 young people per country and over 250 in total. These included local trainings, clean-up actions, clothes exchanges and awareness-raising activities, all designed to bring environmental topics closer to young people in a practical and engaging way.
The partnership has also developed a set of tools to support this work, including an educational board game on sustainability, the City Compass mobile app and its Green Challenges, and a map of Green Points in different European cities, available both on the app and on the project website.
These are only some of the outcomes of Youth Green Compass, but together they show that it has been much more than a project on paper: it has been a project with real, tangible results.
Looking Ahead
With this meeting, the Youth Green Compass partnership entered the final stretch of the project. The days in Rome were an opportunity to celebrate what has been achieved together and, at the same time, to lay the foundations for keeping its results alive long after the project comes to an end.
